Spanish Wells Golf & Country Club

Spanish Wells Golf & Country Club in Bonita Springs FL was purchased from Wells Fargo Bank by the Spanish Wells Community Association (SWCA).

Spanish Wells Golf & Country Club in Bonita Springs, Florida was purchased from Wells Fargo Bank by the Spanish Wells Community Association (SWCA). Previously, the Club was operated by a receiver on behalf of the bank that took possession after prior management left the course in disrepair.

SWCA concluded that partnering with a professional management company would ensure competent business practices and policy control. The list of interested management firms was extensive and SWCA narrowed it to four candidates and ultimately chose Indigo Golf Partners. According to the SWCA Board “Indigo possessed, in our view, the best combination of management expertise, marketing ideas and willingness to partner in accordance with our financial conditions.”

Indigo began by renovating 18 greens and 27 tee boxes to return the course to excellence. Surveys and focus groups allowed members and residents to shape the club’s social calendar. Our marketing team worked diligently to reverse the market perception of Spanish Wells by consistently communicating the positive changes under new SWCA ownership and Indigo management.

Indigo’s results were impressive:

  • Sold 96 new memberships from July 2018 to December 2019.
  • Prior to Indigo, Spanish Wells posted an operating loss of $248,000 while Indigo produced a profit of $140,000 and $285,000 in the first and second years, respectively, of Indigo management.
  • Increased revenue by $668,000 in first year of operation.

SWCA praise:
“Instrumental in wisely executing capital projects.”
“Best course conditions in 15 years.”
“Improved member events and dining offerings.”
