(RESTON, Va.) – While golfers nationwide were awakening for the ninth annual World’s Largest Golf Outing (WLGO) last Monday morning, they were met by Senior Vice President of Operations Tony Cianci and Fisher House Foundation’s Chief of Staff Mary Considine on Golf Channel’s Morning Drive.

On the show, Cianci and Considine talked about how WLGO came to be and why this is the fourth year the outing has partnered with Fisher House, which provides military families free lodging while their loved ones receive medical treatment at 84 houses across the nation.

“It could be due to combat injury or a veteran dealing with cancer or end-of-life issues, but this is a way we can support them and it’s a way we can do something we that we love – play golf,” Considine said. “That has an impact on making sure these families are together at a hospital, staying at a Fisher House and they can focus on their loved one recovery. And that’s an incredible gift.”

The money raised through WLGO helps keep families together while loved ones are receiving medical care. The Fisher House staff shares that “a family’s love is good medicine” and all of that is possible through donations like that from WLGO to pay for food, electricity bills and even for building new Fisher Houses, such as the one in Orlando that opened in February 2018.

“You don’t have to be a great golfer – you don’t even have to be a golfer to donate,” Cianci said. “That would go to one of the worthiest causes you can imagine, to help our veterans and veterans’ families.”
